AMS Vans, Inc Is Ringing In The New Year With New Mobility Dealership In Texas

The old adage must be true - Everything's bigger in Texas, including the new AMS showroom which will house the handicap conversion van company's signature modifications - The Legend and Edge conversions. The Grand Opening for the new AMS Texas location is scheduled for February 2009 - just in time for President's Day!

The Norcross, GA based handicap conversion van company has newly opened offices 15 minutes south of downtown Houston in Pearland, TX. The expansion comes in part to the Lone Star State's requirement for selling wheelchair accessible vans via its DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) program.

Lifelong Texans, Steve and Tamara Holland, will run the new AMS Vans, Inc location in Pearland. The husband and wife team have been valued AMS members for several years and are excited to begin the operation.

DARS works closely with AMS Vans, Inc to find the best suited vehicle for its consumers.

"Our agency inspects dealerships and makes sure repairs can be done on modified vehicles," says Michael Schepperly, Houston Regional Program Director for DARS, "We make sure consumers get the right vehicle for their needs."

The state program refers customers to dealerships and requires all handicap accessible vans sold in the state to have an in-state dealership. Wheelchair accessible van dealerships must pass DARS inspections as well as provide repairs for vehicles sold within the state.

DARS is composed of four divisions centering itself on people with disabilities and children with developmental delays. The department includes the Division for Rehabilitation Services (DRS), the Division for Blind Services (DBS), the Division for Disability Determination Services (DDS) and the Division for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI).

It is the mission of DARS, "To work in partnership with Texans with disabilities and families with children who have developmental delays to improve the quality of their lives and enable their full participation in society."
